We have an exciting opportunity for an equine veterinarian, vet nurse, or other industry professional to work on an exciting new project which will engage with the equine community to reduce the impact of equine medicine and horse ownership on the environment, and contribute to a sustainable future for much-loved our equine companions.
AVEA has created an online program, the Climate Care Program, which provides practical steps and knowledge to integrate sustainable solutions into busy veterinary practices. This online Program comprises an introductory module and 6 self paced sequential content based modules, each addressing a different sustainability topic: water, energy, waste, procurement, renewables and chemicals in practice. It includes the first Carbon Calculator designed specifically for the Australian veterinary market.
We have had considerable interest from equine practitioners however the Program needs specific equine enhancements to expand its appeal in the equine veterinary community.
We have funding for a part-time role (2 – 3 days per week) for 2 years (flexible location) to build on the success of the Climate Care Program, and create and develop an Equine version to engage specifically with equine vets and clientele. The completed Program will provide practical ways for the equine veterinary profession to provide more sustainable veterinary care, and educate and inspire horse and pony owners to adopt more environmentally sustainable practices.
No previous experience working in the not-for-profit sector is required — although of course it’s great if you do bring this! Your experience within the equine community will be a valuable asset.
