The World Veterinary Environmental Alliance (WVEA) is a global alliance of veterinary organisations and professionals working together to address the environmental challenges affecting animals, people and the planet.

WVEA is an initiative of AVEA’s parent organisations Veterinarians for Climate Action Ltd. WVEA has developed into an international network connecting veterinary leaders, organisations and experts across sustainability, biodiversity and One Health.

The Alliance is supported by a fantastic network of international veterinary and scientific leaders. Its Patron is Nobel Laureate and veterinarian Professor Peter Doherty, while its ambassadors include former Australian Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Mark Schipp, former World Veterinary Association President Dr Rafael Laguens, IPCC Vice Chair Professor Mark Howden, and University of Melbourne carbon-farming expert Professor Richard Eckard.

World Veterinary Alliance WVEA also works with veterinary organisations internationally, including the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), an official supporter of the Alliance, and the Japan Veterinary Medical Association, which has formally expressed its support for WVEA’s work.

Through collaboration, education, advocacy and practical initiatives, WVEA aims to equip veterinarians to become effective environmental leaders and to ensure that the veterinary profession has a stronger voice in decisions affecting climate, biodiversity, animal health and welfare, and the future of our planet.
